MMA Conditioning Class (example)
STX kick boxing focuses on working both energy systems (aerobic) through punching and kicking using bags, focus pads, thai pads and kick shields. The (anaerobic) element of the MMA conditioning class is incorporated through the use of kettlebells, dumbbells, medicine balls, plyometrics and bodyweight, formatted into an interval circuit.
Workouts that incorporate both energy systems are seriously tough workouts, “Not for the Faint Hearted”. Their are several other popular workouts systems that spring to mind due their similarity’s. You may have heard of them, crossfit, insanity, P90X and of course mixed martial arts are all training systems that target both energy systems (aerobic, anerobic). Workouts of this design type are also referred to as High Intensity Interval training or abbreviated to (HIIT).
